Yeah, that works for me. I don't have anything else today so we can leave right after. Or skip last period, I don't care.

But I would so hate to miss social studies...

If anybody asks? Just tell them we're doing a field trip to socially study something else.

[And off he goes to meet her. Who needs school, NOT HIM.]

I'm sure we can manage to hide it.

[A few minutes later in the parking lot, Luna could be found perched on the front of one of the teachers cars, legs swinging, the back of her black boots thudding against the front grill. She was in a black knee-length skirt with pink stripes and her fluffy pink winter coat, absently toying with her phone while she waited for Hiro.]

[Eventually he makes him way outside, hood up and hands in his pocket as he approaches from the side. He stops in front of the car, looking at it for a moment before giving her a slight grin.]

Are we committing grand theft auto, too?

[Luna glanced back at the car, then shrugged.]

Only if you know how to drive. And hotwire one.

[Ah, the skills of youth. She hopped off the car with a little 'mph' and brushed off her skirt, then grinned as she straightened up.]

Besides, I know a way faster way to travel.

[She stretched out her hand for him to take.]

I could probably figure out how to hotwire a car but driving's new. How hard could it be? [But she slides off of the car and he grins, giving her a skeptical look even as he takes her hand.]

I'm ready when you are.

Plus we both look way too young to be driving. Definitely get pulled over.

[When he took her hand, she curled her fingers through his with that sly smile of hers.]

Okay, this might feel a little weird. But it won't last.

[And then, suddenly, a vortex of inky blackness pockmarked with shimmering crystalline lights swirled up around them. It didn't last long, four seconds at the outside, but it was a cold, empty, lonely four seconds, the only warmth the pressure of their hands.]

[And then, just as quick, the darkness was gone. And they were standing on the edge of the forest just outside of town. Luna's smile turned into a grin.]

Tadaa!

Whatever, we'd only get pulled over if something went wrong. Have I ever steered you wrong before? [Shut up, Hiro. He's curious what's about to happen though, anticipation mounting even as he lets her tighten the grip.]

What--[He doesn't even get to ask before they're caught in a whirlwind of dark and crystal. He has enough comprehension left to understand that they're teleporting before they're spit out on the other side. He doesn't quite let go of her hand, mostly alarmed but also way too fascinated.]

...so that's what it feels like. [He looks at the forest and then back to her.] You just cleared some serious air.

Yeah, it's pretty weird, huh? [She grinned over at his observation, trying to decide if she wanted to comment on the air thing. Had he been wondering what her teleporting felt like? Was that weird? Was it not weird? Huh.]

[Well, something to think about later!]

Okay, so.

[She walked a bit closer to the woods, tugging him along by the hand she had not let go of yet.]

I'm sure you've been outside the city before. [Her free hand came up, holding out one finger in a 'now listen here' gesture.] But it's not like it used to be. It's not all suburbs and highways, it's...woods and rivers and...eventually weird towns nobody's heard of before!

Also sometimes fairies, I think?

[She hadn't gotten to see that bit.]

But before all that, there are monsters out here!

Weird doesn't even begin to cover it. [He sounds enthralled, actually. He'd been wondering for a while and he's stunned enough that she's getting away with pulling him by the hand toward the woods.]

It's been a while. [After he and Rei officially settled in the city, Hiro had kind of decided he didn't feel like going anywhere.] So what you're saying is nature and a bunch of monsters just showed up one day and now they're just here. Like Pesgare and Magatus and whatever?

[He's heard about them from other app users, but he's still lost on that. Either way he's absolutely listening to her to soak all of that in and process it.]
