Lumina COURT Unseelie TITLE The Impling OCCUPATION Chocobo Breeder! ABLE TO FAST-TRAVEL Lumina can teleport to all of the major cities at this point, and about half of the minor ones. She is slowly collecting smaller ones when she gets bored. RESIDENCE IN 2,701 A small chocobo ranch on the outsiders of Mair, and her room at Caer Scima. PLANS Large plans for development or activities for the timeskip, etc. SUMMARY OF KNOWN DETAILS Lumina will be working on developing her Chocobo ranch into an actual ranch and not the three-birds-and-a-little-girl that it is right now. With the death of the Jabberwhelp and her attitude being shaken somewhat, she'll also be turning more towards learning how to actually fight, and not just be a little pest. Somewhat. When it amuses her. Her seelie friends may find she isn't speaking to them much, because she's going to finally be pretty pissed at the other side of the war, instead of just not caring. Anyone who is friends with her on the unseelie side can expect to have her drop by at least once a week just to check in and say hi and be a pest. She's not exactly good at being by herself, and the loss of the lockets is going to hit her hard. TIMELINE OF EVENTS SPRING IN 2,701 (Mar, Apr, May) MARCH - During the cold spell, Lumina and Lemina will be working to get magical heating set up in Lumina's chocobo ranch. The second round of eggs will be born as well, numbers and colors not yet determined. APRIL - Lumina won't really mind the harp, her emotions are already pretty chaotic. That said, she is going to have a breakdown towards the end of the month that will result in her smashing the harp. Need someone to be around while she breaks down. May - Lumina will be hunting the swans for the cash money! Also people may find her training young chocobos in their magic while she does it! The third set of chocobo eggs will be born this month, numbers and colors not yet determined.. SUMMER IN 2,701 (Jun, Jul, Aug) June - As people prepare to clean up the Jabberwock stuff, Lumina will basically run away to a boat adventure with the Outsider in order to avoid thinking about it and getting sad again. She will be heading to the tournament in Treun to watch the excitement but won't be fighting! July - Lumina will return from sea adventures! The fourth clutch of chocobo eggs will be born here, numbers and colors to be determined. As the ranch becomes more crowded, Lumina's focus will be mostly on it for the next few months until she adjusts. August - Forest golems in the trees surrounding Lumina's ranch will do some small damage to the ranch and buildings there before being driven off by the chocobos and Lumina and whomever happens to be around. Lumina will be at the festival of light in Leathann! FALL IN 2,701 (Sept, Oct, Nov) September - Lumina will be at the harvest festival, and probably watching the bread riots with great amusement. The language problems won't change how she speaks (FFXIII doesn't really have languages as a concept) but she won't be able to understand anyone who is not speaking 'English', for the sake of convenience! October SAMHEIN! Lumina may try to talk to the Black Shuck. The Fifth clutch of chocobo eggs will be born this month, however owing to the nature of the month, all eggs will be Black Chocobos. November - Lumina will have some run ins with the escaped prisoners, probably helping to catch them or letting them go depending on her whim, really. WINTER IN 2,701/2,702 (Dec, Jan, Feb) December - Yule! Lumina will be getting gifts for all of her friends! She will also attempt to talk to the white hart, rather than hunt it, which may result in an animal transformation? January - Reclaiming her room in the rebuilt Caer Scima, being happy to see the city in one piece again. Shard training with Ganondorf/the shade in exchange for chocobos for his soldiers? February - Lumina will be at the feast, oblivious to the violence towards the elves! The first chocobo clutch of spring will be born, the largest yet as the various chocobos from last year begin to come of age. SPRING IN 2,702 (Mar, Apr) March - Lumina will spend a chunk of the month protecting her ranch from the skeletons, until she's managed to teach her chocobos to kick the creature's skulls off. Several chocobos will be killed, which will have her pretty angry. April - Three of Lumina's imps will go missing! Along with many she is friends with in the court. She will be exceedingly upset and begin searching for them everywhere she can.

"Perhaps the birds will but there are many people...and the world is not all gallant knights and noble ladies." But Lumina is not her child. Not a child in her care, though Lia had to remember that with much difficulty.

At least the bird seemed controllable. It didn't sprint desperately away. Lia could hear the honking sounds of geese in the distance and she shuddered a bit. "I hate geese."

"If it were all gallant knights and noble ladies, that'd be really boring too." Lumina certainly did have a lot of opinions. "Besides, I can take care of myself just fine, thank you."

She twisted around in her saddle with a grin, listening to the honking too. "They're pretty mean. One of them tried to bite me!"

[psalmed]

"I believe they attempt to bite people if they are enchanted or if they are not." It was part of goose nature, as far as she was aware. Of course most of her experience was in dealing with the swans that decorated the gardens at Court.

"As long as you can care for yourself." Who was she to judge a child gallivanting about the country side? She would simply have to remember Lumina in her prayers.

"So are you here to fight the stupid things too?" Lumina was actually looking forward to this. Get money, get rid of ugly mean birds, and get her chocobos some practice.

[psalmed]

"I am. It seems easy enough...or at least not too perilous if not exactly easy." She was certainly trying not to underestimate how mean they could be. Would it be more difficult to harm them because they were golden?

"They are not...endangered or a kept pet are they?"

"If they're endangered, I guess we're gonna make them extinct!" Lumina just snickered. "Maybe the omega version at the end will drop more than one statue."

Lumina came from a really weird world.

"They turn into gold, though. And they're mean. Who cares about anything but that?" The child leaned up a bit in her saddle, trying to spot any of the birds nearby.

[psalmed]

It sounded really weird. But Lia just nodded and brushed it off as some childish game Lumina was playing. Whatever allowed you to get by in the world.

"If they were pets we might be concerned they had a meaner owner." But if they are wild animals...well Lumina has quite the point. They do turn into gold.

She nudged her horse a bit faster, unsheathing her sword.

"If someone owns a giant flock of angry geese that turn into gold, I'd love to meet them." That had to be somebody interesting.

She tapped her chocobo and Chaos hurried to keep up with Lia's horse. The other chocobo fanned out around them in a semi-circle, heads high, searching for the approaching enemy birds.

[psalmed]

Lia wasn't quite at a gallop but she was heading on rather fast. She spared a thought for Lumina but Lumina was riding steadily on her giant bird and Lia wondered at the oddity of it all.

There was a point about someone owning a flock of golden geese, though.

She heart the noise before she saw their targets. Stragglers from a larger flock, perhaps, but Lia readied her sword as she rode toward them.

Lumina gave a quick whistle when they spotted the birds, and then tugged on her reins, falling back a bit as the other chocobos moved ahead of her...and ahead of Lia, apparently having decided she was part of what they were supposed to be protecting.

When the two sets of birds grew close enough, the four chocobos slid to a stop, and with a chorus of warks and chirps, the air was suddenly full of magic, ice and fire and strange, black shadows that had birds tumbling from the air, smoking or frozen or in some cases, looking purple and sick and barely able to stand.

Lumina looked so proud of herself.

[psalmed]

Lia clicked to her horse and the horse began to gallop. The birds moved ahead of them and Lia nearly shrieked at the sudden color and sound and magic in the air. Her horse as well reared and she clung to it until all four hooves were back on the ground.

Lumina looked like this was what was supposed to happen, so Lia at least thought she could be spared from running the other direction. "Is this the magic your chocobos do?"

One of the swans wobbled. Lia stabbed it without thinking much except that it needed to be put out of its misery.

"Yup! Some of them, anyway. The different colors do different things...I guess I should've brought a silver one..." Having a tank would've been handy. Well, Lia could stand in front, right?

The chocobos were doing a decent job, but more of the birds were getting through that Lumina would've liked. She backed her own bird up a few steps.

"We may have to run. I'm not really much for fighting myself."

[psalmed]

"You don't know how to fight and decided to do this?" Lia is a bit incredulous but she supposed Lumina had the bird to protect her from most things. Things that weren't a flock of angry, golden geese.

Lia cut down a few that had come toward them, coming off her saddle to hit a few more. She wasn't quite used to slaughtering birds like this, all things considered.

"Back up a few paces. If we run then they will pursue."

[chaoticwhimsy]

"Hey, I'm twelve. Other people do the fighting for me. Or monsters. But if I summon something it might spook my chocobos."

She tugged on Chaos's reins and he started shuffling backwards, the other chocobos falling into something of a loose defensive wall in front of them, still casting magic.

[psalmed]

"I had a sword in my hand when I was twelve." But Lumina had a point once again. She was young and she had an army of giant birds but she was a child. Something to be protected. "Get behind me."

Lia cut down the birds, one after the other, not pausing to look at how they turned into gold because one was already slashing at her face and she didn't even know geese did that. "Slowly," She told Lumina as she started backing up as well. No running, however much she wanted to.

"Yeah yeah, people love pointing out how awful everywhere they came from is for kids."

Lumina backed up a few steps along with Lia, the motion slow, and then sighed. "We're just going to be backing up forever. If one of my birds bolts, grab their reins. Chasing them down takes forever."

Lumina slid from Chaos's back and ran back, using the larger birds to hide her running. When she was fifteen or so feet further retreated than Lia, she spun back around and grinned.

Behind her, the air started to shimmer and crackle with chaotic energy...

[psalmed]

"You misunderstand. I had a sword in my hand for play. I doubt I ever fought anyone not my brother until I was well into my teens." But she also would expect anyone who went on adventures to have a sword. Oh well.

"If we back up the birds will thin out unless you wish to be chased by a flock, mademoiselle." At least that's what she thought. Lumina, however, had other ideas. She slid down and Lia may have said something uncharitable as she urged her horse to turn.

She did not put the mare at a run but put her at enough of a trot to safely escape, reaching out to snag the reins of a chocobo running past. If it took her fingers off, she was not going to be happy.

The size of the rift swirling behind her might make someone think she was summoning something big, a cyclops or a dragon...but instead, after a few moments, a swarm of strange, furry, balloon-like floating things appeared from behind her. There were a dozen of them, at least.

They bobbed back and forth as the rift faded, occasionally revealing their gigantic maws of sharp, jagged teeth as they chittered. Once the rift itself faded, Lumina looked a bit drained, but she managed a grin and pointed at the swans.

"Get 'em!"

And the swarm of...evil balloon monsters?...went rushing on to take on the evil swan monsters. They were about evenly matched, but they'd do their job...which was be a distraction!

Lumina wobbled a bit once the magic had completely faded, but then grinned over at Lia as Chaos padded over to her and she leaned against him. "Tadaa."

[psalmed]

The mare didn't like the commotion. Lia didn't like it either, forcing herself to stay mounted, keep under control and to stay near Lumina because the girl seemed to be the cause of all the noise.

Lia turned to see...things. She couldn't quite stare because the horse still needed navigation but what even were they? Certainly not any animals she had even seen. But it seemed that the swans were at least being delayed.

"Is that to thin the flock or to let us escape?" Lia questioned, frowning when she saw how unsteady the girl was on her feet. "Do you need to be up here on my horse?" Already she was reaching.

[chaoticwhimsy]

"I don't know." Lumina laughed as she climbed back up onto Chaos's back. The evil furry balloons and the swans were tearing into each other now. It seemed to be a fairly even battle, but there were more swans than balloon things...

"Do you want to run, or try to kill the rest of them?"

[psalmed]

"I believe we should retreat and kill what is left afterward." As well as collecting the gold from the ground. But Lia was not eager to throw herself in the middle of the fray, especially when she was not certain what was going on.

"What are those?"

[chaoticwhimsy]

"Let them do the dirty work then reap all the rewards, huh?" Lumina snickered. "I like it."

She whistled, and her other chocobos turned to gather up behind them as the fighting went on in the distance.

"Technically they're called Niblets, but i call them hairballs."

[psalmed]

"Niblets or hairballs, it makes no difference." The words mean nothing to her. Lia clucked to her horse to follow the giant birds so they could at least all watch from a safe distance and finish off the survivors. It felt a bit morbid to wait to gather up the corpses but gold was rather less messy.

"Do you travel alone? Do you live alone?"

Lumina didn't care about names, not for something as minor as this. The hairballs were holding their own, but they were outnumbered and starting to...well...pop.

"Mm, sometimes. My ranch has some workers on it, they're usually around." And Shijima lived with her too.

"But I usually travel by myself."

[psalmed]

"Oh." Not the most eloquent, perhaps. Lia patted her horse's neck as she watched the fray. It was certainly something. Kind of frightening, actually.

A swan broke loose from the fray and Lia stabbed it again. The horse nickered, clearly as disturbed as she was. "You seem very settled for your age."
