Oh- I'm sorry. ( and she genuinely does sound so, it isn't just a passing apology. )

I was actually hoping to get your help with something? I'd say it could wait if it's a bad time, but I don't think it can, and you're the best person I can think of to help.

It's one of those 'bad times' that isn't really going to get to stop so I-

[She stops.]

You want my help? [Lumina actually sounds surprised. It isn't that she doesn't think her help is awesome, but usually she has to force it on people.]

I do. I know that you did your best to help the Jabberwock baby last year, and that you looked for her dad when the Queen asked, right? And you used to run a ranch near Mair with other animals? This is kind of similar in that- It's about one of the animals of this world, and out of anyone, I think you're going to be our best chance at helping it.

The Roc from spring last year, the King of Birds? He's injured, or maybe sick. I'm not sure, and I'm not much of an animal person, so I haven't gone to check out what's happening. I'm worried that if he doesn't get help, there might be a repeat of that really big freeze from the last time he was upset.

...Yeah, I went looking for him. [She found him too, but that was a secret still. Nobody knew it but her.]

Uh. [Lumina isn't quite sure how to process all of this, her ego and her depression and her confusion are all having a little mental fistfight.] I guess? I mean, I don't know anything about that animal. Except that he froze everything.

Lumina, have you... heard anything from the Outsider?

I don't know much about him, either. But he is important to the Drabwurld, and I think that if anyone has a chance at being able to help him, it's going to be the person that keeps showing how much they care about the animals of this world. And that's you.

Lev? Mm...not in the last few days? He was keeping an eye on his fishkids, last I heard.

[Lumina wasn't entirely sure what to say to that. A good reputation for caring about animals. That did not generally roll with her pest reputation. But there it was...]

Well. Sure, okay. I can save him, then!

[She got more certain the more she talked.]

I mean, how hard can it be, right? It can't be any worse than finding the jabberwock!

He hasn't responded at his shrine, here. I'm worried.

Hmm.

[Lumina actually picks up her locket then, frowning.]

Maybe he's busy?

He always comes.

Yeah...I don't have a shrine here to try.

Have you tried just calling him on his charms?

[ It is really silly to think about it, but... what if the queen took his head? She's thinking too much of the Cheshire Cat. ]

I have.

...Hang on, lemmie try.

[She puts the locket down and there's the soft sound of footsteps and talking as she moves a bit away. It's a couple minutes before she comes back.]

Okay why isn't he answering? [She sounds angry.]

Ah.

[ Alice still has the charm in the pocket of her apron. Slowly, tears start to form in the corner of her eyes. ]

I- I don't know.

[ He can't be gone, can he? ]

Jack Frost... he didn't respond. [ Thinking of him makes it worse and Alice starts to really cry. ]

I... I waited for days. He would respond, he flitted about so much.

He's probably doing something stupid and isn't paying attention. You know Lev, he- [She trailed off as she realized Alice looked like she was about to cry.]

Hey, hey, I bet he's fine. He's a God, remember?

Definitely easier than finding the jabberwock, I bet. He's been seen flying over Nimh Gleanne repeatedly, so he shouldn't be hard to track from there. If you can help him, and find out what even hurt him in the first place, I'd really appreciate it. ( mostly because hopefully in doing so, they can prevent him from being injured again in the future, and stop another freeze from happening. ) I'll pay you for your time and travel, and if there's anything I can do to help you along the way, just let me know.

( and- she pauses, thinking. ) Nimh Gleanne is in Glaschu, but it's technically neutral territory. That said, I have something that I can borrow and lend to you that will hide your shard while you're there, just to be safe.

God, spirits... no one is invincible. To think he said that the gods here will go to war.

[ Alice is trying very hard not to cry; she wipes tears from her eyes as she speaks. It is the same as Jack Frost and it really starts to become more of a real possibility now, how she waited for Jack.

That completely broke her heart, too. ]

Travel isn't really an expense for me. But my time is really valuable, yeah. [She giggles.

I usually just sneak around, but whatcha got?

It's a charm that will conceal your shard whenever you keep it with you. I can borrow it and lend it to you for the duration of your quest, if you think it'll help?

( she worries, okay. )
